Millimeter-Magazine-86.jpg

For Disney's 'The Living Seas' (1985) at Epcot Center we needed to matchmove a computer animated undersea city to a live action sea floor. (Everybody loved the green, glowing wireframe back then)

In the days before programs like Boujou, much effort was put into using CG data to drive motion control systems, and vice versa. (Another notable example of this technique, also from 1985, can be seen in the video to the Mick Jagger song, Hard Woman.

More portfolio material (this was my first big job) after the jump...

Rapidograph-Drawings.jpg

These were Rapidograph drawings in black ink on white paper. I inverted them and tinted them green in Photoshop just for illustration purposes on this page. I remember thinking, "Man, I'm getting paid to make up drawings of futuristic undersea domed cities? I like this line of work." I don't think I even knew the term concept art.

All compositing was done on optical printers. All output was to 35 mm film using a Celco Film Recorder. (Celco serial number 2 - the second one ever made - as a matter of fact)

Some credits. I included other credit on other projects for fun. Maybe you recognize some names.
